Resources for Buying
Your Home or Selling Your Home |
About
Architecture. This site provides a solid foundation on which
to build your residential architecture knowledge. About
Architecture features House
Styles, an illustrated guide to the most popular residential
architecture styles and features. Additional features provide
information on renovating historical homes, home repairs, and
home maintenance.
American
FactFinder. When you want to find authoritative demographic
information fast, use American FactFinder, an interactive search
engine provided by the U.S. Census Bureau. This resource can
help you track down local population, housing, industry, and
business statistics for your market area from the Census 2000 or
more recent surveys and reports. Simply enter a street address
and the site will pull up relevant information, or click on
an interactive map.
Bankrate.com
Newsletters. Always have your fingers on the pulse of the
most up-to-date interest rates. Bankrate.com provides several
newsletters that help you do just that, including Mortgage News,
which reports on rates and refinancing; and Mortgage Manual,
which provides tips and insight into the mortgage process.
Evite. This
online invitation web site lets you to send e-invitations to
your next open house and manage responses online. You can spruce
up invitations with graphics, a link to a map to the event
location, and weather forecasts (up to five days before the
event). Recipients can RSVP with the click of a mouse, making it
easy to keep track of attendees. Afterwards, you can even create
polls where guests can give feedback for the event.
MSN Maps &
Directions. MSN Maps & Directions provides one of the
best mapping resources online. Although MapQuest may be the most
popular mapping Web site, MSN Maps & Directions provides a
more aesthetically pleasing design and more detailed maps—and
it's the only mapping site that currently offers the option to
download directions to Pocket PCs. The site also links to MSN
Autos, where you can find local traffic reports and gasoline
prices. When you check the traffic reports on MSN Autos
you'll notice that the closest "Metro" to the Olympic
Peninsula is Seattle and Port Angeles is not listed in
"Region" list. Needless to say, there's not a
whole lot of traffic on the Olympic Peninsula except for short
periods of rush-hour traffic before and after work.
During peak summer months we have typical tourist traffic where
you may find yourself behind slow RVs, logging trucks and lots
of visitors on the long two-lane stretches of Highway
101. It's a good time to practice your patience, listen to
a book on tape/CD, and just relax as you enter the slower pace
of the Olympic Peninsula.
RealEstateJournal.
The
Wall Street Journal's Web site on real estate provides
timely real estate industry news. The site features real estate
news articles taken from The
Wall Street Journal and other original content, such as
city profiles for major metropolitan areas. |
